About
Born and raised in New Westminster, my family originally hails from Esquimalt and all of my relatives are scattered around Vancouver Island. I have an athletic background and a love of sport. My father is a very accomplished umpire, softball player and Yankee’s fan. My mother is an actress and director and they are both retired psychiatric nurses. I originally went to school for fine arts and graduated the Douglas College theatre program with honors and was then accepted to UBC with the plan to teach theatre at the university level. In a strange twist of events, I ended up moving to Fort Worth Texas followed by Denver Colorado where I lived for almost 3 years opening new Keg Steakhouse and Bar restaurants. I then sold almost all I owned and moved to Thailand where I lived for 2 years teaching, writing my own column for a magazine and traveling India, Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia.
From Asia, I moved to Whistler BC as it has always held magic for me and worked on my writing skills while learning snowboarding, a sport best learned when young and still made of rubber... I then moved back to East Vancouver where I had spent my early 20’s and fell in love with the character homes of the Commercial Drive area, not to mention the mansions of Point Grey and everything else in between. I was beginning to see that I had a passion for finding accommodation and loved doing this for friends and family. As well, seeing inside of people’s homes was fascinating! With a history of sales under my belt, an actor’s ability to adapt to any situation as well as a Buddhists patience (I became an ordained nun for a stint in Thailand) I decided that real estate was for me. I still consider parts of South East Asia home and visit as often as I can. I own a few different properties and my with my parents living in Coquitlam, I continue to work on the mainland occasionally but focus on Nanaimo and the surrounding areas as my partner and our energetic 8 year old and I have a house on acreage near the ocean here and we love it.
Rookie of the year in my first year of being licensed, I have continuously been in the top percentage of agents in my realty board and am forever aiming higher. I have taught many classes in real estate, ran multiple charitable groups for my community through my office and am forever attending classes to make sure that my clients get the best service possible. I believe firmly in people before profits and work with clients that I can build a mutually rewarding relationship with. I applaud creativity and value positive attitudes. I support all causes animal and am involved in several volunteer groups including the SPCA and the Nanaimo Hospice Society. I enjoy reading and running and I have cable purely so I can watch Coronation Street and the Food Network. In this lifetime I will publish a book, open a diner and travel the world. Real Estate is my vehicle to achieve the big “why’s” in my life and I take it very seriously including a written money back guarantee. I love what I do and work diligently to make sure everyone I work with has a memorable experience in hopes that they will recommend my services to their friends and family. I look forward to discovering your passions and helping you take the necessary steps to unlocking your dream home.
Again, thank you for your time. Sincerely, Shanon Kelley.
